Text Box: The Easter Story

A fairly straightforward retelling of the Easter story, re-enacted by the kids in the church grounds.

For this one we simply stuck to the Gospels and wrote our own script based on the actual words in the Bible.

St. Margaret’s Plays

Text Box: The Star Stops Here

An out of control director subverts the traditional Church Christmas Play with protest songs from angels and sheep (with apologies to Pink Floyd, The Proclaimers and Van Morrison) before the true meaning of Christmas is discovered, despite baby Jesus being left at home.
Text Box: Feeding of the 5000

A 2-camera multi-media extravangza filmed on Mt Majura with a cast of hundreds about the feeding of the 5,000, but, as is now usual, containing lots of in-house jokes and political references.

Text Box: Good News

What is that bright light in the sky? Is it a BBQ at the Bishops gone wrong? A dust storm? Or something miraculous? The farmers and the sheep head off to find out, pursued by the media and weapons inspectors? A traditional Christmas story with a few political and local references.
Text Box: Jesus’ Christmas Party

A puppet show adapted from the Story “Jesus Christmas part” by Nicholas Allan. A wonderful, very funny retelling of the birth of Christ, which all children love. This year we put our effort into the puppets rather than the words, but still had a great time, and even employed video cameras, lights and overhead projectors.
Text Box: The Story of Christmas

This one was written by Sue and Katherine, with additional help from Rosalea. It’s a very topical and very Australian version of the Christmas story, set in the present day, with lots of political references.

Every year the children of St. Margaret’s stage a Christmas play with a twist. Some years these plays take a very wide interpretation of the Christmas message, interspaced with jokes and comments on political events and people in the Church.

We have adapted existing plays (The Star Stops Here and Good News) written our own (Feeding of the 5,000 and The Story of Christmas), performed a puppet play set to an existing story (Jesus Christmas Party) and occasionally even stuck to the Gospels! (our Easter performance in the grounds)

The plays are not theologically sound, and if anyone can inform us of the correct authors of some of the players, we will be happy to give credit, or remove them if there is any objection to their use here. If you wish to use ours, feel free to do so,  without charge, but we’d be delighted if you sent us a note of acknowledgment.
